And the Nominees are...

MTV released today the list of the Video Music Awards that will take place in the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles live on Sunday, September 12th,2010 at 9pm. The list only confirms that 2010 was indeed the year of women since it's a lady whose name is appearing THIRTEEN times in the list. It's the first time in history that an artist have that much nominations in one year only and she's the first female to be nominated twice for "Video of the Year" in the same year. If you're wondering who's that phenomenal lady...well let us give you a hint: she died live on stage during her last year perfomance at the VMA's. The lady that makes the world go gaga, the one and only LADY GAGA! With "Bad Romance", she's nominated for Best Female Video and Video of the Year (she's also nominated for Video of the Year with "Telephone (feat. Beyonce)"). It's not a surprise that "Bad Romance" made her go to the top (it's the most watched video on youtube).

During her interview about how she felt after setting a new world record she said: "I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13. A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!".

Let's not forget to point out that it's 13 nominations OF HER OWN, if we count the nominations she gets with Beyonce on "Video Phone" it reaches a total of EIGHTEEN nominations. Well, we can say with no doubt that 2010 was the year of women (and let's hope it keeps on like that ;P )

The second artist to have the most nominations is a comebacker and let's hope this time he stays for a long time. With his new hit single "Not Afraid", Eminem is the second favorite of this year's VMA's. He's nominated 8 times, including "Best Male Video" and "Video of the Year". So, Eminem's fans can be proud of him. "Apparently, MTV doesn't care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?!" Eminem joked. "I mean, I'll be there, but don't expect me to be nice about it".

You can vote for your favorites on vma.mtv.com (only in the general categories).

Our surprises of this year:
-Rihanna aka Riri is only nominated once with Rude Boy in the Best Editing category, we were expecting her name to be present at least 5 times.
-None of the Black Eyed Peas video was selected!! Not even in the Dance Music category! We've got to confess it's a little bit disappointing...

Anyways, the countdown is on! Are you all excited like The Commanders are? And tell us, did your favorite make the cut? Is there an artist that is not on the list that you would have liked to see? Let us know how you feel about this year's VMA's nominations!

The Commanders are OUT!
